Zebra tang fish

The Zebra Tang is a beautiful marine fish known for its blue-gray body, bold dark stripes, and bright orange accents along its fins. It is an active and powerful swimmer that adds color and movement to a large saltwater aquarium. This fish is best suited to experienced aquarists because it can become aggressive and needs plenty of swimming space.

Scientific Name: Acanthurus sohal

Behavior: Active, territorial, and sometimes aggressive, especially toward other tangs and similar-shaped fish. It needs plenty of open swimming space and hiding places.

Diet: Mainly herbivorous. Feed marine algae, seaweed (nori), spirulina, and high-quality herbivore pellets. Offer a varied, algae-rich diet to keep it healthy.

Size: Can grow up to approximately 16 inches (40 cm).

Reef Safe: Yes, generally reef safe. It usually does not harm corals, making it suitable for many reef aquariums.

Best Aquarium: A very large marine aquarium of at least 180 gallons (680 liters) is recommended, with a larger tank preferred for an adult. Provide strong water movement, plenty of open swimming space, live rock, and stable water quality.

Care Level: Moderate to difficult.

Important Note: The Zebra Tang grows large and can be aggressive, so it is not suitable for small aquariums. Choose tank mates carefully and avoid keeping it with other aggressive or similarly shaped tangs unless the aquarium is exceptionally spacious.
